Jigs are without a doubt the best way to target cobia. When out targeting cobia it is best to bring a whole aresonal of jigs in different sizes and colors. White and chartreuse are said to be the most effective colors and it is very common to tip them with squid or small fish to help entice the bite.
Cobia are also targeted with live eels. Due to this, many anglers troll jigs with long eel like tails added to them.
Always carry jigs in a variety of weights, however, 3 ounces seems to be the most commonly used jig for chasing cobia.
